How counselling can help with stress, overwhelm & irritability

All of us desire some degree of tranquility, rest or time out from daily chores and tasks, from stress, problems, the news, people and the rush of daily life. Some need peace from overthinking, worries and anxieties, which prevent them from working, studying, or meditating.

Life can sometimes feel relentless — with constant demands, responsibilities, and pressures that leave little room to rest or simply be. When stress builds up over time, it can lead to feelings of overwhelm, irritability, exhaustion, or a sense of being “on edge” all the time. You may notice you’re more reactive, tearful, or struggling to switch off and relax, even when you want to.

These feelings are often signs that your mind and body are under strain and need care, not criticism.

As an integrative counsellor, I offer a supportive space to slow down, breathe, and explore what’s happening beneath the surface. Together, we can look at what’s contributing to your stress — whether it’s perfectionism, life transitions, caring for others, unresolved experiences, or the pressure of constantly trying to hold everything together.

Using a blend of therapeutic approaches, we’ll work at your pace to help you understand your stress responses, manage emotions, and build healthier boundaries and coping strategies.

Counselling and mindfulness can help you feel calmer, more balanced, and more in control — so you can respond to life’s challenges with greater clarity, compassion and self-care.

“You will find peace not by trying to escape your problems, but by confronting them courageously. You will find peace not in denial, but in victory.” — J. Donald Walters
